I both love and hate the Emmys...
Ok, this is me spazzing out over the relevant categories (what I consider relevant, anyway...)

So, because of the ridiculously crappy new voting system, Drama categories ended up with a whole lot of '6 noms'...people were predicting it and it's quite nice. Still don't like the new system though. But anyway, I don't want to continually mention all of the sixes, so...there it is.

COMEDY

Outstanding Comedy Series

Entourage • HBO
The Office • NBC
30 Rock • NBC
Two And A Half Men • CBS
Ugly Betty • ABC

Heh, no DH. Yet another snub to them. Sucky. But ENTOURAGE?? I must just take a second to w00t at a loud volume. W00T!!!!! Lastly, The Office was a complete lock, but that doesn't mean I'm not utterly overjoyed at seeing it there. So, yeah - The Office or Entourage must win. Now plz.

Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series

Ricky Gervais as Andy Millman • Extras • HBO
Tony Shalhoub as Adrian Monk • Monk • USA
Steve Carell as Michael Scott • The Office • NBC
Alec Baldwin as Jack Donaghy • 30 Rock • NBC
Charlie Sheen as Charlie Harper • Two And A Half Men • CBS

Wait, Ricky Gervais? ZOMG the pure awesomeness of that nom. Basically, either he or Produce Pete Steve have to win. Have to. Then again, what does SC not win?

Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series

Felicity Huffman as Lynette Scavo • Desperate Housewives • ABC
Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Christine Campbell • The New Adventures Of Old Christine • CBS
Tina Fey as Liz Lemon • 30 Rock • NBC
America Ferrera as Betty Suarez • Ugly Betty • ABC
Mary-Louise Parker as Nancy Botwin • Weeds • Showtime

There were so many people sure that there would be 3 housewives in the category and I told them it wasn't going to happen. Still, only one? I was kinda pulling for Marcia Cross this year. Teri Hatcher had a pretty good year too. Gah. Still, no real suprises, huh?

Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series

Kevin Dillon as Johnny Drama • Entourage • HBO
Jeremy Piven as Ari Gold • Entourage • HBO
Neil Patrick Harris as Barney Stinson • How I Met Your Mother • CBS
Rainn Wilson as Dwight Schrute • The Office • NBC
Jon Cryer as Alan Harper • Two And A Half Men • CBS

Uhh...can you say BEST CATERGORY EVER???? KEVIN DILLON!!!!!!!! SERIOUSLY?!!?!?!?! I mean, it would have been awesome in J-Kras had gotten a nom, but there's always next year (it'll come). And how adorable was Jon Cryer at the announcements when he learnt about all the Two and a Half Men noms? I love him so much...Neil Patrick Harris was a pleasant suprise, dontcha think?

Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series

Jaime Pressly as Joy Turner • My Name Is Earl • NBC
Jenna Fischer as Pam Beesly • The Office • NBC
Holland Taylor as Evelyn Harper • Two And A Half Men • CBS
Conchata Ferrell as Berta • Two And A Half Men • CBS
Vanessa Williams as Wilhelmina Slater • Ugly Betty • ABC
Elizabeth Perkins as Celia Hodes • Weeds • Showtime

Jenna Fischer pretty much rules all. Also, it's nice to know that despite Vanessa Williams godawful tape, she still got in. And the Emmys really love Two and a Half Men, don't they?

Outstanding Guest Actress In A Comedy Series

Dixie Carter as Gloria Hodge • Desperate Housewives • ABC
Laurie Metcalf as Carolyn Bigsby • Desperate Housewives • ABC
Elaine Stritch as Colleen Donaghy • 30 Rock • NBC
Judith Light as Claire Meade • Ugly Betty • ABC
Salma Hayek as Sofia Reyes • Ugly Betty • ABC

Ok, now Laurie Metcalf, CHANGE YOUR FREAKIN' TAPE TO 'BANG'!!!!!!' Good Lord...

Outstanding Casting For A Comedy Series

Desperate Housewives • ABC
Entourage • HBO
30 Rock • NBC
Ugly Betty • ABC
Weeds • Showtime

Entourage! Entourage! Entourage! Although an Ugly Betty win would be pretty damn awesome...they have a great cast.

DRAMA

Outstanding Drama Series

Boston Legal • ABC
Grey’s Anatomy • ABC
Heroes • NBC
House • Fox
The Sopranos • HBO

House, House, House, House, House - I never doubted you. GA was a lock. Heroes is a pleasant suprise. I mean, it's one of my favourite shows, but I never expected it to make it anywhere near the top 5, so w00t. But...WHERE THE FUCK IS LOST? You know, ATAS changed the voting system this year just to make sure that LOST wouldn't be snubbed again. That's irony for you. Now ATAS, go change the fucking system back to the way it was, so that 'popularity' plays absolutely no part!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series

James Spader as Alan Shore • Boston Legal • ABC
Hugh Laurie as Dr. Gregory House • House • Fox
Denis Leary as Tommy Gavin  • Rescue Me • FX
James Gandolfini as Tony Soprano • The Sopranos • HBO
Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer • 24 • Fox

Pretty predictable, apart from one tiny, little, inconsequential thing: WHERE THE FUCK IS MICHAEL C. HALL? That's not even funny. Pretty ridiculous, actually. Also would have been awesome if Kyle Chandler had made it through, but that was a long shot.
Anyone want to even venture a guess as to who I'm pulling for? Do I really need to spazz out about it? No. Because I refused to accept that there was any chance Hugh Laurie would get snubbed again.
Really, to me, it seems like this race is between Gandolfini and HL. Considering this is Gandolfini's last year...ick.

Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series

Sally Field as Nora Walker • Brothers & Sisters • ABC
Kyra Sedgwick as Dep. Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson • The Closer • Slippin’ • TNT
Mariska Hargitay as Detective Olivia Benson • Law & Order: Special Victims Unit • NBC
Patricia Arquette as Allison Dubois • Medium • NBC
Minnie Driver as Dahlia Malloy • The Riches • FX
Edie Falco as Carmela Soprano •The Sopranos • HBO

I was really kinda pulling for Calista Flockhart over Patricia Arquette. Ellen Pompeo also had a killer tape (suprisingly), so that would have been cool. But really - no suprises, again. I am therefore pulling for Sally Field, who is as awesome as ever.

Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series

William Shatner as Denny Crane • Boston Legal • ABC
T.R. Knight as George • Grey’s Anatomy • ABC
Masi Oka as Hiro Nakamura • Heroes • NBC
Michael Emerson as Ben • Lost • ABC
Terry O’Quinn as John Locke • Lost • ABC
Michael Imperioli as Christopher Moltisanti • The Sopranos • HBO

T. R. KINGHT! T. R. KNIGHT! T.R. KNIGHT! T.R. KNIGHT! T.R. KNIGHT! T.R. KNIGHT! Shouldn't be suprised, Six Days pt 1&2 left me in fucking tears, but still. Also: TERRY O' QUINN!!!!!! MICHAEL EMERSON!!!!! LOST BOYS RULE ALL! Lastly, as much as I love Masi Oka, Jack Coleman deserved that nom much more. Maybe next year...

Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series

Rachel Griffiths as Sarah Whedon • Brothers & Sisters • ABC
Katherine Heigl as Isobel “Izzie” Stevens • Grey’s Anatomy • ABC
Chandra Wilson as Dr. Bailey • Grey’s Anatomy • ABC
Sandra Oh as Cristina Yang • Grey’s Anatomy • ABC
Aida Turturro as Janice Soprano • The Sopranos • HBO
Lorraine Bracco as Dr. Jennifer Melfi • The Sopranos • HBO

Three GA ladies? Huh. Don't really get the Katherine Heigl love this year. Last year I loved her, but this year? Not so much. Still, congrats to her, I guess. I still adore CW, but she didn't have a whole lot to do this year - she got it because she's Chandra Wilson and thus by default, awesome. Not particularly fair, but that's the way it generally goes in the Emmys. I pretty much hero-worship Sandra Oh, but she's always nominated (deservedly). Rachel Griffiths was an extremely pleasant surprise :)

Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series

Christian Clemenson as Jerry “Hands” Espenson • Boston Legal • ABC
Forest Whitaker as Curtis Ames • ER • NBC
David Morse as Michael Tritter • House • Fox
Tim Daly as J.T. Dolan • The Sopranos • HBO
John Goodman as Judge Robert Bebe • Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip • NBC
Eli Wallach as Eli Weintraub • Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip • NBC

I am possibly the only person in the world who loved the Tritter arc, but that doesn't mean that I didn't find Tritter utterly shitty. For this reason, I am over the moon at David Morse's nom - he was unbelievably awesome and so freakin' detestable as Tritter. FTW! Also: WHERE THE FUCK IS GEORGE DZUNDZA??? Pah. Dead to me, Emmys. Well, not quite, but whatever. Bring back Daddy O'Malley!

Outstanding Guest Actress In A Drama Series

Kate Burton as Ellis Grey • Grey’s Anatomy • ABC
Elizabeth Reaser as Jane Doe • Grey’s Anatomy • ABC
Marcia Gay Harden as Star Morrison • Law & Order: Special Victims Unit • NBC
Leslie Caron as Lorraine Chalmers • Law & Order: Special Victims Unit • NBC
Jean Smart as Martha Logan • 24 • Fox

Hey, Crush is there. Whoo, Elizabeth Reaser. Does anyone else find it funny that even though she has a name, she's still called Jane Doe on the official Emmy's release? Heh. Also, KATE BURTON MUST WIN. The End.

Outstanding Casting For A Drama Series

Brothers & Sisters • ABC
Friday Night Lights • NBC
Grey’s Anatomy • ABC
Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip • NBC
The Tudors • Showtime

...Who do I choose? I don't care about The Tudors particularly, but...who? Who?

OTHER

Outstanding Art Direction For A Single-Camera Series
Deadwood • HBO
Heroes • Genesis • NBC
Rome • HBO
Shark • Teacher’s Pet • CBS
The Tudors • Episode 101 • Showtime
Ugly Betty • The Box And The Bunny • ABC

Heroes is so pretty-lookin'... It. Must. Win.

Outstanding Costumes For A Series

Deadwood • Amateur Night • HBO
Desperate Housewives • Getting Married Today • ABC
Rome • De Patre Vostro (About Your Father) • HBO
The Tudors • Episode 103 • Showtime
Ugly Betty • I’m Coming Out • ABC

Ugly Betty plz... I mean, come on. Their costumes are awesome.

Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup For A Series, Miniseries, Movie Or A Special

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation • Living Legend • CBS
Grey’s Anatomy • My Favorite Mistake • ABC
House • Que Sera Sera • Fox
MADtv • Episode 1203 • Fox
Nip/Tuck • Conor McNamara • FX

YES! FAT-SUIT FTW! That is all.

Outstanding Animated Program (for Programming Less Than One Hour)
Avatar: The Last Airbender • City Of Walls And Secrets • Nickelodeon
Robot Chicken • Lust For Puppets • Cartoon Network
The Simpsons • The Haw-Hawed Couple • Fox
South Park • Make Love, Not Warcraft • Comedy Central
SpongeBob SquarePants • Bummer Vacation / Wig Struck • Nickelodeon

But...how am I meant to choose between South Park and Spongebob Squarepants?? YES, this is relevant.

Outstanding Art Direction For A Variety, Music Or Nonfiction Programming

79th Annual Academy Awards • ABC
Cirque Du Soleil: Corteo • Bravo
Desperate Crossing: The Untold Story Of The Mayflower • The History Channel
Engineering An Empire • Egypt • The History Channel
Hell’s Kitchen • Episode 210 • Fox
MADtv • Episode 1209 • Fox
Tony Bennett: An American Classic • NBC

Ok, that Tony Bennett special was gorgeous - I swear to God, it was all shiny and pretty and thus everything else sucks, it rules all, the end.

Outstanding Music Direction

79th Annual Academy Awards • ABC
Dancing With The Stars • Episode 310 • ABC
Scrubs • My Musical • NBC
The 60th Annual Tony Awards (2006) • CBS

Hello, Scrubs-love (Not much there this year, those bastards)

Outstanding Original Music And Lyrics

Family Guy • Peter’s Two Dads – Song title: “My Drunken Irish Dad”
MADtv • Episode 1209 – Song title: “Merry Ex-Mas” • Fox
Saturday Night Live • Host: Justin Timberlake – Song title: “Dick In A Box” • NBC
Scrubs • My Musical – Song Title: “Everything Comes Down to Poo”
Scrubs • My Musical – Song Title: “Guy Love” • NBC

YES! Dick In A Box was nominated! I loved that song. But then, I also loved Guy Love. Fuck, it's like Sophie's freakin' choice. WHO DO I CHOOSE?

Outstanding Lead Actor In A Miniseries Or A Movie

Robert Duvall as Prentice “Print” Ritter • Broken Trail • AMC
Tom Selleck as Jesse Stone • Jesse Stone: Sea Change • CBS
Jim Broadbent as Lord Longford • Longford • HBO
William H. Macy as Clyde Umney & Sam Landry • Nightmares & Dreamscapes: From The Stories Of Stephen King • Umney’s Last Case • TNT
Matthew Perry as Ron Clark  • The Ron Clark Story • TTN

Heee, Matthew Perry love.

Outstanding Lead Actress In A Miniseries Or A Movie

Just want to say - what about Sarah Chalke? She rocked Why I Wore Lipstick To My Vasectomy. Pah.

Now I know I didn't include any TDS or TCR mentions, but honestly, they were both nominated like, 10 times and I'm lazy. Basically you must always assume that when they are nominated, I don't give a shit about any of the other noms and am always behind them both 100%. Never will I choose between them (although it would be nice for TCR to win at least one. TDS have tonnes by now...)

I was disappointed to learn that Ellen didn't get nom; with the tape she submitted, I was sure they would give her the nom, she had a few really gut-wrenching scenes this season. Am so happy for Sandra/Chandra's noms and for all the House- and Brothers&Sisters-noms though :D

I think, looking over the list, there were some really good noms. A couple of horrible snubs, but that happens every year.

And yeah - Ellen's submitted episode was a killer. Honestly, she was pretty amazing in some of those scenes (she submitted the episode in which he mother is lucid). It would have been nice for her to get that nod, because pretty much Meredith's whole family has been killed off by now - she won't get those kind of scenes again. Heh.

I am liking TCR much more than TDS for the past year so I hope they get stuff

Lol, my biggest complaint about England is the fact that they don't show The Colbert Report.
Anyways, Jon always wins, so I think Stephen needs some love. Now. But at least he can't lost to Barry Manilow this year...

He can lose to Tony Bennett though. Heee.

Yeah, we get tds and then nothing. Which means we never get the throw at the end of tds, they just cut it out. Bleh. And tds comes one day late, lol.

See, I always thought you guys were really up to date with Dr Who and Torchwood, but your episodes start way after ours do. So we get that, lol. I would say it evens out, but we get everything else like, months later. And all the downloading hurts my laptop :D

The Emmys can never be as good as last year, if Stephen and Jon won't be presenting. Heee, that was just the greatest award-presenting ever.
